Some helpful websites for property research

Below is a list of property market and suburb data websites that are valuable resources for anyone looking to purchase a property.

Hopefully they provide you with some value when it comes to your property search. If you have any to add to the list – we’d love to hear about them.

Microburbs – this site provides information on commuting times, distance to shops and cafes, demographics, zoning in the area, the availability and speed of internet as well as NAPLAN results of schools nearby.

OnTheHouse.com.au – pop in the suburb that you’re interested in and this website will give you a quick summary of median value, median rent, rental yields and number of sales for the suburb.

Landchecker – a great tool for searching for a property or development opportunity. It shows planning overlays and planning permits.

Ksou Sold Price – a quick way to find the sale prices for properties in a suburb.

Residex Suburb Report – they will provide you with two free suburb reports per month. It’s then $30 per each report thereafter. It provides data such as the top 5 most expensive and cheapest streets in a suburb, the median value, growth, and rent over a 10 year period.

Realestate.com.au – this is probably the most popular website for searching for properties in Australia.

ABS – 2016 Census Quick Stats – a quick reference point for finding out the average people per household, median weekly household income, mortgage repayments or weekly rent.

CoreLogic Property Value/RP Data – they provide some basic information for free – but most of their data needs to be paid for.

Allhomes – this is the go-to website for buyers looking to purchase a property in Canberra or Queanbeyan.

Walkscore.com – a handy site for showing travel and commute times within a particular area.

Homely – this site provides suburb ratings and reviews by locals. It’s helpful for buyers looking to move into a new area. Don’t rely too much on the reviews/ratings though – use only as a rough guide!
